New Twist to Speed

Speed dating in eastern Iowa is about to take
on a new twist.
You may recall how we introduced you to the
"8-minute dating" concept earlier this year.
Single, young professionals in Cedar Rapids
were meeting each other at the first eight-minute
dating event in January. The past five events have
all been at bars.
But this Thursday, eight-minute dating is going
alcohol-free at the Java Room in Marion.
Organizer Susie Hamilton told TV9, “I think the
coffeehouse is a more intimate, cozier atmosphere.
People really seemed to enjoy talking at the Java
Room, so I thought it would be a perfect place for
an eight-minute dating event."
The event is for 25 to 35 year old single
professionals.
Again, it will be at the Java Room in Marion
this Thursday at seven. It costs $35 to sign up.
